Amit Shah Directs Monitoring of Demographic Changes in Border Areas
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has instructed district magistrates to monitor demographic changes in border districts and establish Security Coordination Groups. During a meeting in Gujarat, he emphasized the need for effective enforcement of laws related to income tax, anti-money laundering, and customs. The newly formed groups will include officials from the BSF, Coast Guard, and other agencies. Shah's directives come amid ongoing efforts to address illegal immigration and demographic shifts, with a high-level committee already assessing the situation across India. He is expected to visit West Bengal on June 15 to discuss border security and fencing efforts along the Indo-Bangladesh border, where fencing work has resumed after a 16-year hiatus.
