India Signs ₹661 Crore Deal for BrahMos Naval Systems
On October 6, 2026, the Ministry of Defence signed a contract worth ₹661.50 crore with BrahMos Aerospace Private Limited for the procurement of BrahMos fire control systems and launchers for Indian Navy ships. This initiative aims to enhance the Navy's maritime strike capabilities. The BrahMos system is the primary surface-to-surface missile for the Navy, capable of targeting land and sea from extended ranges. The project, featuring a minimum of 68% indigenous content, supports various Indian industries, including MSMEs, and is expected to generate employment over three years. The Ministry stated that this contract marks a significant step in indigenising advanced military technology and strengthening India's maritime security.
