Sitharaman Invites Global Investors to Build in India
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman addressed a Business Roundtable in Chicago on August 28, 2026, inviting global investors to establish manufacturing bases and innovation centres in India. She highlighted India's broad-based growth and reform momentum, emphasizing opportunities across sectors such as manufacturing, AI, financial services, and infrastructure. Sitharaman noted that India has 1,250 registered entities in GIFT City, which serves as an international financial centre. She urged investors to view India as a platform for global markets, leveraging its engineering talent and manufacturing capabilities. The Minister also mentioned initiatives like Atmanirbhar Bharat aimed at enhancing domestic capabilities in advanced technologies.
