Four Arrested in Manipur After Assam Rifles Ambush
Four individuals were arrested in Kamjong district, Manipur, in connection with the ambush that killed two Assam Rifles personnel. The arrests occurred during an operation on Tuesday in Sharakphung, TM Kasom, and Lungphu villages. The suspects have been moved to Porompat police station, Imphal East, but the reason for their arrest remains unclear. In a separate incident, an angry mob vandalised and set fire to at least four Assam Rifles vehicles in Senapati district on the same night. Tensions escalated following a confrontation between Assam Rifles and the military wing of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland at Huthrong bridge. On July 6, two Assam Rifles personnel were killed in a coordinated attack involving improvised explosive devices in Ukhrul district.
