Supreme Court Orders NEET-UG Re-Test After May 3 Paper Leak

The Supreme Court has ordered a re-test for the NEET-UG exam, originally held on May 3, due to a paper leak involving over 120 questions. The re-test is scheduled for June 21. The National Testing Agency (NTA) is under scrutiny for its handling of the situation, with the court suggesting it learn from the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to enhance security measures. A High-Powered Steering Committee has recommended extensive safeguards, including CCTV checks and mock drills at exam centres. The NTA has stated that it is implementing several recommendations from a previous High-Level Committee of Experts formed after a similar incident in 2024. Over 22 lakh students competed for approximately 1.1 lakh medical seats in the NEET-UG exam, highlighting the significance of maintaining the integrity of the examination process.
