Kurdish Fighters Launch Ground Offensive into Iran Amid Ongoing Conflict
Thousands of Kurdish fighters from the Kurdistan Free Life Party have initiated a ground offensive into Iran, beginning on Monday, 2 March. The operation targets positions in the southern mountains of Mariwan and the Zagros mountains in northwestern Iran. Kurdish officials indicated that Iranian dissident groups based in northern Iraq are preparing for further military actions. In response, Iran has denied these incursions and claimed to have launched operations against 'anti-Iran separatist forces' in Iraq's Kurdish region. Reports suggest that Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps missile units have targeted bases of Kurdish armed groups in Iraq. The Kurdish groups, which have experience from previous conflicts, are seeking to challenge Iran's military capabilities amid ongoing tensions in the region.
