Karnataka to Launch India's First Government AI University
Karnataka plans to establish India's first government-driven Artificial Intelligence University, announced Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on 14 July. The initiative aims to position the state as a leader in responsible AI use globally. Alongside the university, an AI Hub will be created to support research and development for startups and companies. Karnataka, home to over 17,000 startups and contributing to 40% of India's software exports, seeks to enhance its digital infrastructure and foster collaboration across five key areas, including education and healthcare. The Chief Minister invited Google to deepen its partnership with the state, highlighting the importance of AI in improving governance and daily life.
