Jaishankar Launches India's UNSC Campaign for 2028-29 Term
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres to discuss global issues including West Asia, Ukraine, and Sudan. Jaishankar launched India's campaign for a non-permanent seat on the UN Security Council for the 2028-29 term, emphasizing priorities such as a voice for the Global South and countering terror financing. Elections for the seat will take place in June next year, with India competing against Tajikistan. India previously held a seat on the UNSC in 2021-22, marking its eighth term since 1950.
