Israel Strikes Beirut, Targeting Hezbollah Chief of Staff

On November 23, Israel conducted an airstrike in Beirut, targeting Hezbollah's chief of staff, Haytham Ali Tabatabai. This marks the first Israeli attack on the Lebanese capital since June. The strike occurred in the Haret Hreik neighbourhood, resulting in at least 24 injuries as residents fled their homes. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the operation aimed to disrupt Hezbollah's military capabilities. The airstrike is seen as a violation of a ceasefire agreement signed a year ago. The US was informed of the strike post-attack, amid ongoing pressure on Lebanon to disarm Hezbollah. Israel has intensified its military actions in southern Lebanon recently, claiming that Hezbollah is attempting to rearm despite Lebanese government denials.
