US to End Temporary Sanctions Easing on Iranian Oil Sales

The US Treasury Department announced it will not renew a temporary easing of sanctions on Iranian oil, set to expire in a few days. This authorization allowed for the sale of Iranian crude that was already stranded at sea, initially valid for shipments loaded before March 20. The US is maintaining maximum pressure on Tehran amid ongoing tensions, with President Donald Trump stating that the conflict with Iran is 'very close to over.' Meanwhile, at least three ships from Iranian ports have crossed the Hormuz Strait despite a US military blockade. The US has also sent letters to several countries, including China and the UAE, urging cooperation to halt illicit Iranian activities. Recent talks in Pakistan aimed at extending a ceasefire have not yielded results, prompting a blockade of Iranian ports by the US.
