Modi Addresses Illegal Migration, Promises Action in West Bengal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a rally in Malda, West Bengal, focusing on illegal immigration and its impact on the state's demographics. He pledged significant action against infiltrators if the BJP wins the upcoming assembly elections. Modi accused the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) of facilitating illegal immigration for political gain, claiming it has led to increased riots in areas like Malda and Murshidabad. He also inaugurated rail and road projects worth ₹3,250 crore, including the launch of Vande Bharat sleeper trains. Modi assured the Matua community of their rights under the Constitution, while attacking the TMC for obstructing welfare schemes. The BJP is positioning illegal immigration as a key issue in the polls, which will occur amid the contentious Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls. The TMC dismissed Modi's claims, asserting that the public supports Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
