Three Indians Trapped in Myanmar Demand Government Rescue from Scam Centre

Three Indian nationals have been trapped for over three weeks in a fraudulent digital scam centre in Myawaddy, Myanmar. They were lured by false job offers for construction work and forced into cyber scam activities. The individuals, who entered Myanmar in the first week of May 2026, reported extreme mental trauma and unsafe living conditions. Their passports were confiscated, restricting their movement and ability to return home. Family members have contacted the Madad Foundation for assistance, which has urged the Indian government to intervene. The Indian Embassy in Yangon is reportedly following up with local authorities for their rescue and repatriation. This incident highlights the risks faced by Indian migrant workers falling victim to fraudulent recruitment and human trafficking networks abroad.
