India-US Trade Talks Scheduled Amid Changing Tariff Landscape
An Indian delegation will visit the US from April 20-22 to resume negotiations for the Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA) with the United States. This follows a phone call on April 14 between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump, during which they discussed bilateral cooperation and the importance of securing energy routes. The BTA framework was finalised on February 2, but the deal has not yet been signed. The upcoming talks are crucial as both countries aim to resolve pending issues before finalising the legal text of the agreement. The negotiations are further complicated by recent US tariff changes and ongoing investigations under Section 301 that involve India and other economies.
