PM Modi Advocates Women's Reservation Ahead of Parliament Session
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared a letter on April 14, urging support for a constitutional amendment to reserve 33% of seats for women in legislative bodies. He highlighted the importance of women’s participation in decision-making for India's development and noted the enthusiasm among women nationwide. The Parliament is set to reconvene from April 16 to 18 to discuss the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, which aims to fast-track the implementation of this reservation by 2029. Modi emphasized that timely passage of this legislation is crucial for strengthening democracy and ensuring fair representation. He called on lawmakers to unite across party lines to support the bill, stating that the voices of women must be amplified in legislative processes.
