IMF Projects India as Fastest-Growing Major Economy in 2026, 2027

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) forecasts India's economy will grow by 6.5% in both 2026 and 2027, maintaining its status as the fastest-growing major economy. The IMF has also revised India's growth for 2025 to 7.6%, reflecting stronger-than-expected performance in previous quarters. Inflation is projected to rise to 4.7% in 2026, up from 3.3% in 2025, before easing to 4% in 2027. The IMF's global growth projection has been downgraded to 3.1% for 2026, influenced by ongoing conflicts in West Asia. The report indicates that India's growth remains robust despite global economic challenges, with the country expected to outpace other major economies.
