U.S. and India Finalising Interim Trade Agreement, Says Ambassador

The United States and India are close to finalising an interim trade agreement, with discussions ongoing to resolve the final outstanding points. US Ambassador Sergio Gor stated that an Indian delegation visited Washington last week, and a US team will arrive in New Delhi soon. The trade relationship has expanded significantly, growing from $20 billion to over $220 billion in two decades. The interim agreement aims to enhance bilateral cooperation in various sectors, including technology and pharmaceuticals, where the US sources nearly 40% of its generic medicines from India. The foundation for this agreement was established in February, with both nations committed to strengthening their economic ties.
