India Rejects China's Renaming of Places in Arunachal Pradesh

Updated 2 days ago: The new version includes the specific mention of Aksai Chin, the spokesperson's name Randhir Jaiswal, the characterization of China's actions as 'mischievous attempts', the renaming of 23 locations, references to previous renaming actions in 2017, 2021, 2023, and 2024, and details about a military standoff that began in 2020 along with ongoing talks to resolve border disputes.

India has dismissed China's attempts to assign names to territories in Aksai Chin and Arunachal Pradesh, stating that such actions could hinder the normalisation of bilateral relations. The external affairs ministry spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, referred to China's establishment of a third county in Aksai Chin and the renaming of 23 locations in Arunachal Pradesh as 'mischievous attempts' that do not alter India's claim to these areas. This statement follows China's previous renaming actions in 2017, 2021, 2023, and 2024, which India has consistently rejected. The ongoing tensions stem from a military standoff that began in 2020, although both nations are currently engaged in talks to resolve their border disputes.
