India and Italy Launch Joint Initiative Against Terror Financing
On November 23, 2025, India and Italy announced a joint initiative to combat terrorism financing during a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Johannesburg. The 'India-Italy Joint Initiative to Counter Financing of Terrorism' aims to enhance cooperation in counter-terrorism efforts and strengthen collaboration in global platforms like the Financial Action Task Force. The leaders also discussed advancing bilateral ties in trade, defence, and technology, with India-Italy trade estimated at $15 billion for 2023-2024. Since 2000, Italian Foreign Direct Investments in India are around $4 billion. Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the progress on the Joint Strategic Action Plan 2025-29 and emphasized the importance of democratic values and sustainable development.
