Iran Keeps Strait of Hormuz Closed Amid US Tensions
Iran has announced that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until the US ceases its blockade of Iranian ports. The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps stated that no date has been set for new talks with the US. This development follows the recent attack on two Indian-flagged tankers, Jag Arnav and Sanmar Herald, which were reportedly fired upon by the Iranian Navy while carrying Iraqi oil. In response, India’s Ministry of External Affairs summoned the Iranian ambassador to express concern over the safety of merchant shipping. The Iranian Navy has warned vessels against approaching the strait, stating such actions would be viewed as cooperation with the enemy. The situation has escalated tensions in a region critical for global oil supply.
