Modi Highlights India's Economic Resilience at Bloomberg Forum
Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in New Delhi, emphasizing India's economic stability amidst global uncertainties. He reported a 7.8% growth rate for the April-June quarter, a current account deficit of 0.61%, and foreign exchange reserves exceeding $700 billion. Modi attributed recent sovereign rating upgrades to India's structural reforms, including the Goods and Services Tax and the consolidation of labour codes. He underscored India's role in global cooperation, stating that the country grows 'with the world and for the world.' Modi also noted India's renewable energy capacity has increased from 75 gigawatts in 2014 to about 300 gigawatts, highlighting initiatives like PM Surya Ghar and PM-KUSUM that promote solar energy generation.
