India, China Discuss Peace and Border Delimitation Along LAC

Updated 2 days ago: The date of the talks was updated to August 25, 2026, and the focus shifted to improving understanding of differing perceptions of the Line of Actual Control, with an emphasis on addressing tensions in both Western and Eastern Sectors, along with the establishment of an Expert Group on Boundary Delimitation and the need for clarity to reduce incidents in overlapping claim areas.

India and China held the 25th Round of Special Representatives talks on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) on August 25, 2026, in Beijing. The discussions aimed to improve understanding of differing perceptions of the LAC, which contribute to tensions in both Western and Eastern Sectors. An eight-point outcome document released on August 26 acknowledged these concerns and outlined mechanisms for addressing ground situations through diplomatic and military channels. Additionally, an Expert Group on Boundary Delimitation will work on discussions for an Early and Substantial Harvest of boundary delimitation. The need for clarity on the LAC has been emphasized by India to reduce incidents in overlapping claim areas, particularly following tensions in eastern Ladakh since April 2020.
