India and Canada Set C$70 Billion Trade Goal by 2030
India and Canada aim to boost bilateral trade to C$70 billion (₹4.65 trillion) by 2030, as announced during the inaugural Canada-India economic dialogue. Finance ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and François-Philippe Champagne discussed expanding economic cooperation, including a bilateral investment treaty. The dialogue builds on a commitment made in March 2026 to strengthen ties. India's goods exports to Canada rose to $4.7 billion in FY2026, while imports fell to $3.3 billion, resulting in a trade surplus of $1.4 billion. The ministers also explored collaboration in sectors like energy, technology, and critical minerals, and discussed enhancing financial cooperation, including the use of UPI in Canada. The next economic dialogue is scheduled for 2027.
