Supreme Court Clarifies No Approval for Changes to Voter Form 6

The Supreme Court of India stated it has not approved any modifications to Form 6, the application for new voter enrolment. The controversy involves allegations against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar for unilaterally altering the form, which includes new requirements for applicants. The Election Commission has since withdrawn additional declarations in states where the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) is complete. Opposition MPs from the INDIA bloc plan to march to the Election Commission headquarters on October 6 to protest against Kumar's actions. Security measures have been heightened in central Delhi, with around 4,000 personnel deployed to manage the situation.
