ICE Shooting in Maine Sparks Protests and Federal Investigation
A 26-year-old Colombian man was fatally shot by an ICE agent during an enforcement operation in Biddeford, Maine, on Monday. This incident marks the second fatal shooting involving ICE officers in less than a week. The FBI is investigating the shooting, which occurred when the man allegedly attempted to use his vehicle against federal agents. Advocacy groups identified the victim as a legally authorized worker in the US. Protests erupted in Biddeford, with around 200 demonstrators calling for accountability. This incident follows another shooting in Houston, raising concerns about immigration enforcement practices. Since June, ICE arrests in Maine have reportedly increased more than fourfold, coinciding with a nationwide push for accelerated deportations.
