IAF Sukhoi-30 MKI Loses Radar Contact Over Assam, Search Underway

Updated 22 hours ago: The aircraft is now identified as a Sukhoi Su-30MKI instead of Sukhoi-30 MKI, it is confirmed to have crashed during a routine training mission, and the last communication time is specified as 7.42 pm instead of 7:42 pm.

An Indian Air Force Sukhoi Su-30MKI fighter jet crashed in Assam's Karbi Anglong district after losing radar contact shortly after takeoff from Jorhat. The aircraft went missing on Thursday evening, with the last communication recorded at 7.42 pm. It was on a routine training mission and had two pilots onboard. Search and rescue operations are currently underway to locate the aircraft and the crew. Local residents reported hearing a loud explosion-like sound in the area, but authorities have not confirmed any link to the missing jet. The Sukhoi Su-30MKI is a key component of the IAF's fleet, which includes over 200 such aircraft.
