Gunmen Abduct Over 200 Students from Nigerian Catholic School
On November 22, gunmen attacked St. Mary's School in Nigeria's Niger state, abducting 215 students and 12 teachers. The incident occurred in the early hours, prompting a response from military and security forces. This attack follows a recent pattern of school abductions in Nigeria, with at least 1,500 students kidnapped since the infamous Chibok incident. Authorities noted that the school had reopened despite prior warnings about security threats. In a related incident, 25 schoolgirls were abducted in Kebbi state earlier in the week. Nigerian President Bola Tinubu cancelled his trip to the G20 summit in response to these events, with Vice President Kashim Shettima stating the government will use all available resources to recover the abducted individuals.
