Gaza Mourns Aid Worker Killed in Israeli Air Strike
Mohammed al-Wahidi, a senior member of Egypt’s aid organisation, was killed in an Israeli air strike on a taxi in Gaza, along with three others, including two young siblings. The strike occurred on the eve of the Egypt vs Argentina World Cup match. Al-Wahidi, 57, was known for his efforts to support displaced families and organise public screenings of World Cup matches. His death has raised concerns among Egyptian officials, who have denounced Israel's ongoing actions in Gaza. Since the beginning of the conflict in October 2023, over 73,118 Palestinians have been reported killed, with at least 1,092 fatalities occurring during a ceasefire that began on October 10, 2025.
