US Urges China to Fulfil Trade Agreement Commitments
The United States has called on China to meet its commitments under a trade agreement made in Busan, South Korea. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer discussed concerns over China's agricultural purchases and rare earth supplies during a video call with Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng. Reports indicate that China is currently meeting only about two-thirds of its obligations regarding rare earths. The US officials emphasized the need for concrete results and full compliance from China. The discussions come ahead of a scheduled meeting between US President Donald Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit. The trade agreement's tariff exclusions are set to expire on November 10, raising concerns about potential disruptions in trade relations between the two nations.
