India Offers Condolences for Ayatollah Khamenei's Death
India expressed condolences for the death of Iran's Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, killed in US-Israel military strikes. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar spoke with Iranian FM Seyed Abbas Araghchi, marking the second conversation since February 28, when military actions escalated. The Indian government had previously maintained silence on Khamenei's killing and the sinking of the Iranian frigate IRIS Dena by a US submarine. The incident has drawn criticism from opposition leaders and former officials regarding India's foreign policy stance. Meanwhile, the Indian Navy has initiated search and rescue operations for the crew of IRIS Dena, with 32 crew members rescued and 90 bodies recovered.
