Missile Strikes Riyadh Airport, Causing Evacuations and Flight Disruptions
Saudi Arabia has extended the closure of King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh until October 17 following attacks attributed to Yemen's Houthi rebels. The airport has been shut since an attack on Saturday that resulted in 13 deaths and over 300 injuries. A subsequent attack on Sunday killed one person and injured nearly a dozen. The assaults have raised concerns about the kingdom's air defence capabilities, as multiple drones reportedly preceded the missile strikes. Cancellations across Saudi airports reached 46.4%, with flights diverted from Riyadh while operations continued at Jeddah. The Houthis, who have enhanced their military capabilities, pose a significant threat to Saudi infrastructure, complicating regional security amid ongoing tensions.
