Nepal Issues Flash Flood Warning After Sichuan Earthquake
Nepal has issued a fresh flash flood warning following a magnitude 5.1 earthquake in Longchang City, Sichuan province, China. The earthquake has raised concerns about rising water levels in the Trishuli River, prompting Nepal Police to evacuate locals in the area. Reports indicate that a dam on the Tibet side has burst, heightening the risk of further flooding. As of now, the flash floods in Nepal's Rasuwa district have resulted in 469 confirmed deaths, with over 1,000 people reported missing. Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and relocate to safer areas. Nepal has opted to rely on its own security agencies for rescue efforts, declining foreign assistance due to past coordination issues.
