Fire Breaks Out at Rajasthan Refinery Before PM Modi's Inauguration
A fire occurred at the Pachpadra refinery in Barmer, Rajasthan, on April 20, a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's scheduled inauguration. The blaze erupted in the Crude Distillation Unit (CDU), producing thick smoke. Emergency teams deployed dozens of fire tenders from Balotra and nearby areas to control the fire. Rajasthan Chief Secretary V Srinivas and other officials arrived at the site to manage the situation, and the CDU unit and surrounding areas were evacuated as a precaution. The Pachpadra refinery project, initially launched in 2013, was relaunched by Modi in 2018 with a revised cost of Rs 43,129 crore.
