Over 9 Million Displaced in Sudan Amid Ongoing Humanitarian Crisis
More than nine million people are displaced in Sudan due to ongoing conflict that began in April 2023. A survey by the Norwegian Refugee Council indicates that nearly 29 million people face acute hunger, with over 80 percent of households regularly skipping meals. Approximately 90 percent of displaced families have lost their homes, and nearly three-quarters have no income. The cumulative trauma is significant, with many reporting exhaustion and resource depletion after multiple displacements. Despite these challenges, about one in three aid recipients continue to share their limited supplies with others. Educational opportunities have collapsed, with only 45 percent of displaced children attending school regularly, while 18 percent of households have sent children to work. The situation remains dire, with families signalling they cannot sustain this burden much longer.
