US Sanctions India-Based Couple Over Alleged Iran Support Activities

The US Treasury Department has imposed sanctions on Suniel Kumar Sharma and his wife Jaspreet Preeti Shahid, along with several associated companies, for allegedly facilitating Iran's oil trade through fraudulent maritime registrations. Their network reportedly provided false flags and certifications to vessels transporting Iranian petroleum, including those linked to Iran's military. The sanctions also target nine additional entities connected to Sharma. This action is part of 'Operation Economic Outcast', which aims to restrict Iran's revenue generation from oil exports. Additionally, a Turkish company, Fugo Ground Services Inc, was sanctioned for supporting Iran's aviation sector. The Treasury warned that violations of these sanctions could lead to civil or criminal penalties.
