India's Seafood Exports Reach $8.28 Billion Amid Market Diversification
India's seafood exports reached a record $8.28 billion in 2025–26, driven by significant growth in shipments to Vietnam and the European Union. Exports to Vietnam surged 69.5% to $656.84 million, while the EU saw a 41.4% increase to $1.59 billion. Exports to China rose 26.21% to $1.61 billion, and shipments to Russia grew 24.18% to $149.1 million. In contrast, exports to the US declined by 14.21% to $2.33 billion due to punitive tariffs. The diversification into markets like Vietnam and the EU reflects a strategic shift as Indian exporters reduce reliance on the US market. The seafood sector is optimistic about future growth, supported by ongoing trade discussions and expanding opportunities in emerging markets.
