HDFC Bank CEO Highlights India's Growth Amid Global Economic Challenges
HDFC Bank's MD & CEO Sashidhar Jagdishan outlined the challenges posed by the global macroeconomic environment, including the West Asia conflict and monetary tightening by central banks, in the bank's annual report released on July 11, 2026. Despite these challenges, he noted a favourable growth outlook for India, supported by proactive government and RBI measures. Jagdishan identified risks such as weather disruptions from El-Nino and geopolitical tensions, but emphasized strong domestic fundamentals and credit demand as positive factors. He highlighted the Indian Government's signing of nine Free Trade Agreements with 38 developed economies in the past three and a half years, aimed at enhancing market access. He expressed optimism about India's long-term growth potential, citing political stability and policy continuity.
