Tens of Thousands Stranded Amid Middle East Aviation Disruptions
The UAE's Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security announced that tourists and residents unable to leave due to airspace closures will not face fines for delayed departures. This exemption applies to individuals affected by flight suspensions since the US and Israel launched Operation Epic Fury against Iran on 28 February 2026. The authority is providing accommodation and sustenance for stranded travellers and has activated emergency plans at airports. Meanwhile, in India, petrol and diesel prices remain unchanged despite rising global crude oil prices, with Brent crude increasing by 16.8% and WTI by 14% since the conflict began. Government sources indicate that oil marketing companies may absorb some of the cost increases to shield consumers.
