DGCA Conducts Final Inspections Before FAA Audit Next Month
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) will conduct final inspections of all Indian airlines this week in preparation for the US Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) audit scheduled for November 16-20. This follows two previous rounds of inspections focused on Air India and Indigo. The DGCA is also preparing responses to approximately 200 questions from the FAA regarding India's aviation safety oversight. The FAA's reassessment examines compliance with International Civil Aviation Organisation standards. India currently holds Category 1 status, which is crucial for US market expansion. A downgrade could lead to increased scrutiny of existing operations. The FAA conducts these assessments every five years, with India's last assessment in 2021 showing improved compliance.
