Supreme Court to Hear Pleas on Protests Disrupting Court Access
The Supreme Court of India will hear petitions regarding disruptions caused by protests in Delhi. Chief Justice Surya Kant stated that while democratic protests are acceptable, they must not obstruct the functioning of the court or hinder the movement of lawyers and litigants. The court's decision follows concerns raised by the Supreme Court Bar Association about difficulties faced by legal professionals amid ongoing protests demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The court emphasized that it should not become a site for political agitations and reiterated the importance of maintaining access to judicial services.
