Six Delhi Metro Stations Closed Amid Planned Protests on October 12
On Monday, 12 October, entry and exit at six Delhi Metro stations will be closed from 6 AM to 4 PM due to security concerns related to planned protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The affected stations include Janpath, Mandi House, Barakhamba Road, Central Secretariat, Rajiv Chowk, and Patel Chowk. Passengers can still change trains at these stations. The closures follow a Supreme Court directive allowing reasonable restrictions on transport for public order while ensuring that services operate normally. The protests are in response to a controversial revision of voter lists that critics claim disproportionately affects minority voters. Authorities have warned of potential traffic disruptions across central Delhi, with diversions expected at 20 locations, including major intersections. Security measures are in place to manage the situation as opposition parties mobilise their supporters for the march.
