Delhi Air Quality Reaches Severe Levels Amid Winter Smog

Delhi's air quality has deteriorated, with the overall Air Quality Index (AQI) reaching around 430, categorising it as 'severe'. Certain areas, including Wazirpur and Bawana, reported hazardous AQI levels above 450. Jahangirpuri recorded an AQI of 438, while Anand Vihar and Ashok Vihar logged 427 and 421, respectively. The National Capital Region (NCR) is also affected, with Ghaziabad at 426 and Noida near the 'severe' threshold at 390. The government has implemented Stage 3 restrictions under the Graded Response Action Plan, including 50% on-site staffing for private offices and remote work for others. Educational institutions have been directed to cease outdoor activities. These elevated pollution levels pose serious health risks due to concentrated particulate matter.
