CISF to Manage Security at Sea Ports Nationwide
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) will oversee security at various sea ports across India. This decision designates the CISF as the nodal agency for maritime safety, following its recognition under the International Ship and Port Facility Security code. The CISF currently protects 361 critical installations, including 71 airports and the Parliament complex. The shift aims to enhance maritime safety in line with economic growth. The CISF will also take on new responsibilities, including drone security, and has been assigned to secure new locations such as Noida International Airport and various energy projects.
