CIA Director Visits Moscow Amid Concerns of NATO Attack
CIA Director John Ratcliffe visited Moscow on August 25 to discuss the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war and potential threats to NATO members, particularly Poland. His visit aimed to dissuade Russia from further aggression as the conflict, which began in 2022, continues to escalate. Ratcliffe met with Aleksandr V. Bortnikov, head of Russia’s FSB, urging a diplomatic resolution before conditions worsen. The Kremlin has dismissed US media reports of a planned attack on NATO as unfounded. Ratcliffe also addressed the situation regarding Iran, warning of sanctions if the Strait of Hormuz remains closed to shipping traffic.
