China Rejects US Claims of Military Pressure on Taiwan
Beijing has dismissed the US assertion that it is increasing military pressure on Taiwan, calling it misleading and indicative of 'malicious intent.' Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for China's Taiwan Affairs Office, stated that Taiwan is an internal matter for China and urged the US to handle Taiwan-related issues with caution. This response follows a US State Department call for China to engage in dialogue with Taiwan. Taiwan's opposition leader Cheng Li-wun recently met President Xi Jinping in Beijing, aiming to foster peace. However, Taiwan's government insists it should lead engagement efforts, while China continues military activities around the island, including recent live-fire drills.
