Updated 17 hours ago: The proposed increase in Lok Sabha seats was updated from 850 to 816, with 273 seats specifically reserved for women, and additional details about the discussion and voting schedule in both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were added.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the Lok Sabha on April 16 regarding the Women's Reservation Constitutional Amendment Bill. The bill proposes increasing Lok Sabha seats from 543 to 816, with 273 seats reserved for women, aiming for 33% reservation in both Lok Sabha and state assemblies. A total of 18 hours is allocated for discussion in the Lok Sabha and 10 hours in the Rajya Sabha. The bill is part of a special three-day Parliament session from April 16 to 18, with discussions and voting scheduled for April 16 and 17 in the Lok Sabha, and April 18 and 19 in the Rajya Sabha. The amendment seeks to implement the reservation before the 2029 elections, contingent on a delimitation exercise based on the last published census.
