Over 400,000 Students Request Exam Paper Copies Amid Marking Errors
More than 400,000 students in India have requested copies of their exam papers after reporting discrepancies linked to a new digital marking system. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) received requests for 1.1 million answer sheets from these students, who are concerned about incorrect grading. Approximately 1.7 million students took the Class 12 exams, which are crucial for university admissions. Issues reported include missing pages and incorrect markings. The Union education ministry plans to conduct a full audit of the on-screen marking system due to widespread concerns. The CBSE has acknowledged around 20 cases of answer-sheet mix-ups and noted a 208% increase in requests for scanned copies compared to last year. The re-evaluation portal is set to reopen on June 1, 2026, for students to raise objections regarding their marks.
