Mumbai Court Issues Bailable Warrant Against Minister Nitesh Rane
A Mumbai magistrate's court has issued a bailable warrant against Nitesh Rane, Maharashtra's Minister for Ports Development, for failing to appear in a defamation case filed by Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut. Raut's complaint, initiated in 2023, alleges Rane referred to him as a 'snake' in a speech. This is not the first warrant issued against Rane; two previous bailable warrants and one non-bailable warrant were cancelled. The court noted Rane's absence on multiple occasions and has scheduled the next hearing for June 10, when his personal appearance is required. In a separate case, the CBI arrested DGCA Deputy Director Mudavath Devula and corporate executive Bharat Mathur for a ₹2.5 lakh bribery scheme, with searches revealing ₹37 lakhs in cash and other valuables.
