CJP Leaders Claim Possible Arrests Ahead of October 10 Protest
Saurav Das, spokesperson for the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), stated that he and other leaders could face arrest before their planned protest on October 10 at Delhi's Jantar Mantar. The protest aims to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Das alleged that the government is attempting to suppress the protest through intimidation. The CJP recently held a protest in Mumbai regarding the same issue, which was supported by the Shiv Sena (UBT). The controversy surrounding the SIR process has seen objections raised by Election Commissioners, while the Election Commission asserts that all decisions made were unanimous. The CJP has a history of protests, including a previous demonstration in July that led to detentions by police.
