Israeli Strikes in Lebanon Kill 14 Amid Fragile Ceasefire

On Thursday, Israeli military operations expanded in southern Lebanon, resulting in at least 14 fatalities, including three children. The strikes targeted areas near Beirut, marking the first such attack in weeks despite a ceasefire established on 17 April. Israeli forces reported that approximately 400 explosive drones have been launched at their targets since the ceasefire began. In response, Hezbollah claimed to have conducted around 20 attacks on Israeli troops. The escalation comes ahead of scheduled military talks between Israel and Lebanon at the Pentagon. Beirut's health ministry reported over 3,324 deaths due to Israeli strikes, while Israel claims to have eliminated around 2,500 Hezbollah fighters since March. The ongoing conflict has drawn Lebanon deeper into the regional tensions following Hezbollah's initial rocket attacks in response to the killing of Iran's supreme leader.
