A.P. Enhances Ebola Surveillance at Airports Amid Rising Cases

The Andhra Pradesh Department of Health has increased surveillance at Bhogapuram, Vijayawada, and Tirupati airports due to concerns over the Ebola outbreak. The outbreak is now the second-largest on record, with 10,498 confirmed cases and 5,107 deaths reported across five countries as of October 31. A video conference on November 5 with the Union Ministry of Health reviewed precautionary measures. Arrangements include 46 isolation beds, 3,288 PPE kits, and medical teams at airports to screen passengers from affected regions. A mock drill is scheduled for November 12 to assess preparedness at the state and district levels.
